Tom Peyton Biography  

Tom Peyton, a professional engineer in five states, is a senior technical manager with Parsons Brinckerhoff (PB) in New York City, NY. He has 40 years of tunnel construction experience, including high-pressure water tunnels, shafts and hydraulic structures in a variety of geological conditions using a tunnel boring machine and drill and blast methods. He has been responsible for performing constructibility reviews, developing construction sequencing and staging plans, preparing shaft site layout plans to optimize available work area, community participation, implementing impact mitigation measures, organizing management and administrative procedures, and developing and implementing work safety programs.

Peyton was the construction manager on the MetroWest water supply tunnel in Boston, MA for Stone & Webster and was a contractor for 25 years where he was the construction manager and safety director for the New York City water tunnel No. 3, shaft 19B in Queens, NY. Before joining PB in 2002 Peyton worked for Jacobs Civil where he managed projects in NYC, Colorado and throughout the US. Peyton received a B.S. in civil engineering from Columbia University in 1969 and an M.B.A. from Pace University in 1977. He joined SME in 2006 upon the merger of SME and the American Underground Construction Association (AUA). He is currently a member of the Executive Committee of the Underground Construction Association Division and is also a member of the SME Products and Services Strategic Committee.
